These photos were taken at various places along the River Wansbeck between the point where it enters the North Sea and Stakeford.

They form part of a series of photos taken along the river from sea to source.

Sandy bay caravan site can just be seen above the dunes.

Looking upstream towards the key wall at "the chain" - many
years ago there was a chain operated ferry at this point.

Three railway bridges cross the River Wansbeck - this one is the
"Black Bridge" at Ashington - for many years only a freight line.
