Alwinton Northumberland Photos.
Alwinton is a small village located in the River Coquet Valley and Cheviot Hills.
It is about 10 miles west of Rothbury by road.
The village has a local pub and there is a car park with toilets that is much used by walkers setting off for the hills.
Further up the valley known as Upper Coquetdale are many popular walks into the hills and some of the finest views in Northumberland.
Much of the land on the south side of the River Coquet in this area is restricted access due to use by the M.O.D. as a military firing range.
Public transport in this area is very limited and travel is really only feasible by car or motorcycle.
Nearby at Clennell Hall is a camping and caravan site which could be a good base for walking holidays.
These photos were taken in October at Alwinton. For more photos from the River Alwin Valley and Clennell please use the links on the side or bottom of the page.
