Photos of Bamburgh CastleBamburgh Castle dominates the skyline for miles around in all directions. It dates back to Norman times although there was a fortified settlement as early as the 6th century. The castle was attacked throughout the centuries and withstood many sieges, but was breached during the Wars of the Roses. Part of the current structure which was restored in the 19th century comprises of private residences, but much is open to the public and is a very popular tourist attraction (closed to visitors in winter months).
